Dental Implants

What is dental implant ?

  • If you have a missing tooth, are uncomfortable wearing denture or do not wish to remove healthy tooth structure for bridge prosthesis, then dental implant is a good option for you. Dental implants are the metal fixtures which are surgically placed inside the bone to replace the missing tooth. The tooth structure is later screwed inside this metal fixture.
  • First, the dentist surgically places the implant into the jawbone. A dentist may recommend a diet of soft foods, cold foods and warm soup during the healing process.
  • Next, the bone around the implant heals in a process called “osseointegration”. What makes an implant so strong is that the bone actually grows around it and holds it in place. Osseointegration means “combines with the bone” and this takes time. Some patients might need to wait until the implant is completely integrated, up to several months, before teeth can be attached to the implant. Other patients can have the implants and replacement teeth placed all in one visit.
  • Most patients find that a dental implant is secure, stable and a good replacement for their own tooth.
  • If you are interested in dental implants, it’s a good idea to discuss it with us first. If you are in good general health this treatment may be an appropriate option for you.

    Computer guided implant surgery

  • Newer diagnostic and treatment planning technology has revolutionized the implant dentistry. With computer guided implant surgery, the implants size selection and placement can be virtually performed on the computer as per the jaw bone visible in the patient’s scan. Hence, this benefits the patient with
  • Shorter surgical procedure
  • No sutures
  • Quicker healing
  • Predictable treatment outcome

Computer guided implant surgeries are documented to be minimally invasive and are reported to give promising results.

What is ALL on 4 Implant treatment procedure?

  • This procedure deals with the total rehabilitation of the gums and teeth through surgery. It iѕ essential to consult and get уоurself examined before соnѕidеring thiѕ treatment. During thiѕ consultation, we will carefully assess thе nееd fоr extractions оr any other preparatory work required tо eliminate gum disease оr infection if present. Thiѕ mау аlѕо involve taking X-rays оf thе teeth bеfоrе starting with the treatment.
  • Sometimes, bone reconstructive surgery becomes necessary to provide more support for the All on 4 implants. In this case, a bone which may be derived or taken from other part of mouth, is inserted into the jawbone to make it stronger. Once the bone has healed, which may take up to three months, the All on 4 procedure can then begin. The surgery time is much less lengthy because there are only four implants, and the entire prosthesis will last much longer.

Teeth whitening

  • Get a brilliant white smile with a simple procedure of teeth whitening or bleaching. Over time, teeth can get dull due to number of reasons like, consuming coffee, tea, using tobacco or smoking, with medications, tooth injury etc. Teeth whitening products contain tooth bleaches which break stains and make your teeth look brighter. If you are planning to undergo teeth whitening, it is always advisable to consult us before as whiteners cannot correct all types of discolourations. We do chairside bleaching treatment which usually requires one office visit only. Some people who use teeth whiteners may experience tooth sensitivity which is mostly temporary. Be sure to follow instructions and talk to us if you need further help.

Smile Designing

  • Smile designing is a process where we evaluate your smile, visualize the corrections needed and ultimately by arranging all the esthetic components with the treatment, create a pleasing smile.
  • Smile often defines how better a person can function in a society and so, we, only after carefully studying the facial and dental components with digital analysis, proceed with a treatment plan. At Family Dental Care, we strive to provide not just an esthetically pleasing smile but make sure that it is functionally sound too.
  • For making the desirable smile, a patient may have to undergo orthodontic treatment or gum surgery along with laminates/veneers depending on the changes required in the case.

Teeth Jewellery

  • Add sparkle to your pearlies with top quality tooth jewellery. It is a non-invasive, painless and reversible procedure which does not require any extra maintenance. It does not obstruct your regular brushing and is stain resistant.

Dental Braces

Dental braces are devices used to correct crowded or crooked teeth. Braces are most often used during adolescence, but nowadays adults are also getting corrective dental braces later in life. Braces are made of metal or ceramic brackets, wires, and bonding material that are attached to your teeth. The type of braces that the orthodontist recommends will depend on several factors, such as your age and whether you have an overbite in addition to having crooked teeth. Braces are custom-made and individual to the needs of each person. Braces move your teeth by exerting constant pressure on them for extended periods of time. The shape of your jaw gradually adapts to conform to this pressure. Getting braces doesn’t hurt during the appointment, and it takes between one to two hours for them to be installed. You may experience soreness for the first week when you have braces but with time you get used to it. Each time your braces are adjusted by the orthodontist, you may also be sore for a few days.

  • Lingual braces

  • For image-conscious teenagers, working professionals, and others who don’t want to draw extra attention to their dental work in progress, lingual braces are viable option available. And their popularity is growing. Lingual braces have the same components as conventional braces, but they’re fixed to the back of your teeth, on the tongue — or lingual — side of the teeth. Because they’re behind your teeth, they’re nearly invisible.
  • Aligners

  • Correcting and transforming your smile could not get easier with the new age and virtually invisible aligners. You would be thoroughly guided about the treatment with a digital simulation of your own smile, before and after the treatment. Aligners have revolutionized the age-old dental braces treatment by making this treatment modality more accessible and user friendly in the world of adult orthodontics.

Gums Treatment

  1. Bleeding gums can be one of the first warning signs that you have got gum disease. Early detection is your best bet. If you find a problem, its always advisable to start with a treatment before it gets serious.

Be cautious if you notice any of the following

    • Red, swollen gums.
    • Bad breath.
    • Gums that get smaller, making your teeth look longer than they used to.
    • Sensitive teeth.
    • Wiggly or shifted teeth.

Our goal is to figure out the root cause of your problems and effectively provide treatment so that you can have a healthy everlasting smile. Likewise, it is recommended to get your teeth regularly cleaned by a professional.

    Gums and your Medical Health

It has been proven that several medical conditions and drugs can affect your oral health. Periodontitis (Gum infection) and Diabetes go hand in hand. Oral conditions are likely to occur in individuals who are regularly on medications for cardiovascular or neuromuscular problems. Hence communicating about your medical history and the medications to us at the time of consultation plays a pivot role in planning out your treatment timings and the materials to be utilized during your appointment.

Therefore, if the right approach towards oral health is adopted, risks of developing multiple illnesses can be eliminated.

    Laser Treatment

Gum treatment using Laser is a very gentle alternative to traditional gum surgery. We recommend a laser treatment for a smooth, comparatively pain-free and suture-less experience which will help you heal faster and better.

For patients with more moderate to advanced gum disease with bone loss, a sophisticated approach is required to properly clean out the deeper deposits of disease-causing tartar. Laser treatment hastens the process of repair and regeneration of bone formation.

    Benefits of Laser Gum treatment-

    • No scalpel or cutting of gums.
    • No stitching required.
    • No or minimal bleeding after treatment.
    • Back to regular schedule the same day.
    • It is more conservative and infection free approach for gum surgery, which promises short recovery time.

    Gums Depigmentation / Gums Bleaching

The most common cause of darker pigments in the gums is genetics. The excess melanin can build up in gums, making them look brown or black instead of pink. Though it does not indicate any disease, patients seek this treatment because of their aesthetic preference for pink gums.

The procedure may take 20-45 minutes depending on the colour and size of the dark patch. The treatment outcome can last upto 20 years and more while the healing time for this procedure is about two weeks only. To learn more details about this procedure kindly communicate your requirements to us, so that we can help you get your pink healthy smile!

A toothache is a pain in or around a tooth which can be caused by various reasons. Minor toothache caused due to gum problems can be managed at home whereas serious toothache needs immediate treatment by the dentist.

Most common causes of Toothache:

  • Tooth decay.
  • A bacterial infection inside the tooth causing the Abscess.
  • Tooth fracture or Crack.
  • Damaged fillings.
  • Grinding or Clenching of teeth.
  • Infected gums.
  • Eruption of tooth.

Symptoms of dental pain:

  • Pain that is sharp, throbbing or constant.
  • Pain while biting or chewing on food.
  • Dull lingering pin-point pain.
  • Swelling around tooth.
  • Fever or Headache.
  • Foul-tasting drainage from the tooth.
  • Bad odour from the mouth.

Temporary, home-made pain relief cannot be a definitive solution to your problem but can only lead to further damage to your tooth. For getting the right solution to your problem, you must visit a dentist.

Root Canal Treatment

A root canal treatment is an endodontic procedure in which the dentist removes the bacteria infected tissues of the tooth-root, carefully cleans it and refills it with medicament to save the natural tooth.

A root canal treated tooth may be sore for couple of days. However, most of the patients are able to return to their schedule.

Advantages-

  • Efficient chewing
  • Normal biting and sensation.
  • Natural appearance.
  • It is minimally invasive and protects other teeth from wear.

Removal of wisdom tooth

  • Wisdom teeth are the third set of molars in the back of your mouth. They usually come in by the age of 17-25 years. Most people have them removed for following reasons-
  • They are impacted , This means they are trapped inside the jaw bone or gums and may not come out or erupt in the mouth causing pain and discomfort.
  • They have erupted at wrong angle which causes pressure or discomfort to other teeth.
  • Your mouth isn’t big enough , This happens when the jaw size has no space for the extra set of molars.
  • Cavities or gum disease with wisdom tooth which often occur due improper brushing or flossing at the back of the mouth. The oral surgery is usually performed in 45 minutes or less. You will have some or no pain post surgery. Mild swelling might occur for three days or so. You must follow dentist’s instructions for a quicker recovery.

Dental fillings

  • Dental fillings are the materials used to fill out the cavities created in the tooth due to decay. Filling is also used to repair cracked or broken tooth or teeth worn out due to misuse (grinding/nail biting).
  • Once you get a dental filling done, you should follow good oral hygiene practice. Flouride containing toothpaste is always recommended for avoiding caries or decay. You should get your teeth regularly cleaned by the professional.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

  • A dental crown or cap is a cover that a dentist fixes over a tooth to bring it back to its normal size, shape, colour and function. Crowns can even make your teeth stronger and look better.
  • Dental crowns can be made from metal alloys, porcelain fused to metal, composite resins or ceramics.
  • A Dental Bridge is made with two or more dental crowns which generally replaces the missing tooth. As the name suggests, a “Dental Bridge” bridges the gap created by a missing tooth, while taking support from the adjacent teeth.
  • Dental crowns and bridges are fixed by a dentist and cannot be removed by the patient. For a long term survival of the restoration, it is recommended to visit the dentist regularly for appropriate maintenance.

Dentures

  • A denture is a removable replacement of missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available- complete denture and partial denture.
  • Complete denture replaces all the teeth of the mouth while partial dentures are given when only some teeth are missing in the mouth.
  • For patients not willing to opt for removable denture can get dental implants supported dentures or fixed dentures in their mouth. You can enquire about this treatment modality at the time of appointment, so that we can guide you about the most suitable option of denture for you.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation

It is a restorative dental treatment to fix or rebuild your smile. Our goal is to not just to restore your smile, but to fortify your oral tissues and regain the loss dimension of your face.

Whether your teeth are damaged, infected or lost, along with your gums suffering from infection and needing periodontal treatment, the full mouth rehabilitation includes restoring every single element of your mouth to its healthiest functional stage. The procedure usually involves-
