What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are replacement for tooth roots. Dental Implants are basically metallic fixtures which are made of titianium metal alloys. They are placed inside the bone for providing a strong foundation for fixed (permanent) or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth.

When do you need a Dental Implant?

  • When the tooth is completely destroyed due to dental decay.
  • When the tooth is mobile due to loose gums.
  • When the tooth falls out due to trauma or accident.

Why should you opt for a Dental Implant?

Dental Implants are a conservative treatment approach in comparison to Dental bridges. Dental implants take support from the bone for replacing the missing teeth. On the contrary, Dental bridges take support from the surrounding teeth, therefore requiring reshaping and unnecessary cutting of healthy the surrounding teeth which is not a conservative treatment approach.

How is a Dental Implant treatment done?

Dental Implant treatment is carried out after the evaluation of medical health of the patient, severity of infection existing in the tooth and the availability of the supporting bone where the implant is to be placed.

Dental Implant procedure includes 3 stages:

Stage 1- This is a surgical phase, in which the metallic implant is placed inside the bone. This procedure is done under local anesthesia.

Stage 2- This is a surgical phase, in which the implant is attached with a gingival former i.e. a cap around which the gum develops. This phase is done to help develop the gums for the artificial tooth. This procedure is done under local anesthesia.

Stage 3- This is a restorative phase, in which impressions are recorded to fix the artificial tooth over the dental implant. This procedure usually doesn’t require local anesthesia.

The duration of time period required in between the stages of dental implant treatment solely depends on the clinical and biological conditions of the patient.

We believe in taking utmost care at every stage of the treatment to promise the treatment longevity and to give the best outcomes to our patients.
